Big urgent care chains post their self-pay prices online. A basic visit starts at $120 to $160 at GoHealth in New York, $175 at WellNow, $180 at CareNow and up to $240 at GoHealth in Oregon. Across 8 chains and areas, the middle starting price is $180. A visit with an X-ray or a procedure like stitches costs more, up to about $350.

What changes your price
- What you need done. Most chains price by visit level. At CareNow a basic visit is $180, one with up to two X-rays or shots is $235, and more than that is $350.
- Where you live. GoHealth's basic visit ranges from $120 in New York to $240 in Oregon, for the same brand.
- X-rays. WellNow includes X-rays in its $175 flat rate. Other chains move you to a higher level.
- Outside lab tests. Tests sent to an outside lab cost extra. WellNow caps these at $200 for self-pay patients.
- Paying at the visit. GoHealth's self-pay prices apply when you pay in full at the time of service.
Online visits can cost less, but not always
Several chains offer a video visit for self-pay patients. WellNow charges $75 and GoHealth charges $75 in New York and Houston, about half the in-person price. But GoHealth charges $150 in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, and $200 in Virginia, about the same as going in.
A video visit cannot include X-rays or in-clinic tests. It suits a rash, a cold or a prescription refill better than a twisted ankle or a cut.

- Ask if X-rays and quick tests are included.
- Ask the price of any outside lab test before it is sent.
- Ask if the self-pay price needs payment in full today.
- Compare with the $120 to $240 basic prices above.
Ways to pay less
- Check the chain's self-pay price list online before you go.
- Pick a chain with a flat rate if you may need an X-ray. WellNow's $175 includes X-rays.
- Use a video visit for simple problems when your chain prices it lower.
- Go back within 10 days for the same problem if told to. CareNow charges $50 for that follow up.
How we got these numbers
Every price in the table is a self-pay price posted by the urgent care chain on its own website. GoHealth posts a separate price list for each area it works in, so each area is its own row. The median is the middle price: half of the starting prices are lower and half are higher. Across the 8 rows, the middle starting price is $180. Mira, a health company, checked the posted self-pay prices of about 23 urgent care operators in July 2026 and found similar numbers, which we show as a check. We left out sites that give a range with no method, and a widely repeated $171 median that we could not find at its claimed source. This page has no calculator because each chain sets its own visit levels. All numbers were checked on September 26, 2026.
