Vanta costs $10,000 to $80,000 a year
Vanta sells software that helps companies pass security audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001. It does not publish prices. Buyers report paying about $10,000 a year for one audit framework at a startup, up to $80,000 or more for a large company with many frameworks. The median contract is near $20,000 a year. The auditor who signs off is paid separately.

What Vanta buyers pay
| Startup, one framework | About $10,000 to $14,000 a year. |
|---|---|
| Median contract | About $20,000 a year, from 320 purchases. |
| Mid size, 2 to 3 frameworks | About $30,000 to $70,000 a year. |
| 200 to 500 staff, 3 to 5 frameworks | About $60,000 to $120,000 a year. |
| Auditor fees | About $10,000 to $50,000 a year, paid to the auditor. |
What pushes a quote up
| Frameworks | Each extra audit, such as ISO or HIPAA, adds cost. |
|---|---|
| Company size | More staff and devices mean a bigger quote. |
| Trust Center | The public security page is an add on, about $6,000 a year. |
| Renewal | First year discounts often vanish at renewal. |
| Term | Multi year deals carry better rates. |
Watch out for the year two jump
Vanta often gives a big discount in the first year, sometimes 50 to 70 percent off list. When that ends, renewal quotes are reported to jump 40 to 100 percent. Buyers on review sites say this catches them out more than anything else.
So budget for the full price from day one. Ask the rep for the year two price in writing before you sign, and ask for a cap on the rise. Vanta also asks for 60 days notice to cancel, so put that date in your calendar.
Why the price is hidden
Software sold this way is priced by the sales team, not by a price list. The rep learns your size, your budget and how badly you need it, then builds a quote. Two companies the same size often pay different amounts for the same product. That is why the numbers on this page come from buyers and analysts, not from the vendor.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for the year two price in writing, not just year one.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Buy only the frameworks you need this year. Add the rest when a customer asks for them.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
Remember the auditor. Vanta collects the evidence, but a separate audit firm has to sign off, and that firm bills you directly, about $10,000 to $50,000 a year depending on the framework. Budget for both before you promise a customer a SOC 2 report.
It also pays to know why you need the audit. If one big customer asked for SOC 2, start with SOC 2 only. Add ISO 27001 or HIPAA when a real deal needs it, not before.
One more tip: ask whether the Trust Center, the public page where customers see your security status, is included. It is often an add on at about $6,000 a year.
