BambooHR costs $12 to $22 per employee a month for most teams
BambooHR quotes every deal, so there is no rate card. Buyer reports put Core near $10 per employee a month, Pro near $17 and Elite near $25, with most companies landing between $12 and $22. Teams of 25 or fewer pay a flat $250 a month whatever the tier.

What BambooHR costs by team size
| 1 to 25 staff | Flat $250 a month, any tier. |
|---|---|
| Core | About $10 per employee a month. |
| Pro | About $17 per employee a month. |
| Elite | About $25 per employee a month. |
| 250 staff on Pro | Roughly $51,000 a year before add ons. |
What pushes a quote up
| Headcount | The bill grows with staff, even if the HR team does not. |
|---|---|
| Tier | Performance and compensation tools sit in Pro and above. |
| Payroll add on | Quoted separately. |
| Benefits admin | Reported around $3 to $6 per employee a month. |
| Volume | Rates fall toward $12 to $14 at larger headcounts. |
The $250 floor punishes very small teams
At exactly 25 staff the floor works out at $10 a head. At five staff it works out at $50 a head. If you are under about 15 people, price the flat fee against tools that charge per seat with no minimum.
Above 50 staff the maths flips, and the per employee rate starts falling with volume. That is the point where asking for a discount is worth the call.
Why the price is hidden
Software sold this way is priced by the sales team, not by a price list. The rep learns your size, your budget and how badly you need it, then builds a quote. Two companies the same size often pay different amounts for the same product. That is why the numbers on this page come from buyers and analysts, not from the vendor.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for the per employee rate at your exact headcount, not a band.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Ask about volume discounts once you pass 50 staff.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
BambooHR is priced for companies between about 25 and 250 staff. Under 25 you pay the floor and the cost per head looks poor. Over 250 the per employee rate falls, but the total is large enough that a full HR suite quote from a rival is worth getting.
Two questions save money on the call: what is the rate at my exact headcount, and what do payroll and benefits administration add. Those two add ons are where quotes often double.
One more cost to plan for is implementation. Moving staff records, documents and time off balances takes work, and quotes often include a one off setup fee. Ask what the fee covers, who does the data import, and how long it takes. If the answer is that you do the import yourself from templates, price your own hours into the comparison.
