What home repairs cost in 2026, and what the trades charge an hour
Hourly rates for the four trades you call most, and real price ranges for the repairs that come up every year. Pick a page for the breakdown and an estimator.

How trade pricing works
Almost every home repair bill has three parts: a service call fee for coming out ($75 to $250), labor by the hour or a flat rate for the job, and parts. The fee is often credited toward the repair if you say yes. Labor has a minimum, usually one or two hours. Parts are marked up 20 to 50 percent unless you buy them yourself.
Three questions to ask before you book: Is the service call fee credited to the repair? What is the minimum charge? Is this quote flat rate or hourly?
