A single dental implant costs $2,005 to $5,255 in 2026
Pearl's May 2026 figures, built on ADA fee survey data, put the surgical placement of one implant at $2,005 to $5,255, about $3,075 on average. That fee usually covers the post only. The abutment and crown are billed separately and add a lot, so always ask for the all in price.

What goes into one implant
| Implant post placement | $2,005 to $5,255, about $3,075 (Pearl, May 2026). |
|---|---|
| Crown on top | About $1,015 to $2,670, like a regular crown. |

|---|---|
| Implant material | Titanium is standard, zirconia prices differently. |
| All in or itemized | Some offices quote one flat fee, some each part. |
| Specialist | Oral surgeons and periodontists charge more. |
| Sedation | IV sedation is extra. |

These rows are our estimate. We took the typical national range and adjusted it for local labor costs, which run about 20 percent lower in the cheapest states and about 30 percent higher in the dearest ones. Suburban and community offices often charge 15 to 30 percent less than dense metro practices.
The implant price is usually just the post
An implant has three parts: a titanium post placed in the jaw, a connector called an abutment, and a crown on top. Pearl notes the post fuses with the bone over 3 to 6 months before the crown goes on. Implants often last 20 years or more, and they do not require cutting down the teeth next to the gap.
Many ads show only the post fee. Ask for one number that covers the post, abutment, crown, any bone graft and the 3D scan. For upper back teeth, a sinus lift may be needed too.
Implant or bridge
A dental bridge is faster and cheaper up front but reshapes the teeth next to the gap and usually lasts 10 to 15 years. Replacing a whole arch is a different job. See our full mouth implants page.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for the all in price: post, abutment and crown.
- Ask if you need a bone graft.
- Ask who places it: dentist or specialist.
- Ask the timeline to the final crown.
- Ask what happens if it fails.
Ways to pay less
- Compare an itemized and a flat fee quote.
- Check a dental school implant clinic.
- Use insurance for the crown if the post is excluded.
- Ask about financing.
