Walmart does not post one national price for eye exams. The eye doctors at most Walmart Vision Centers are independent and set their own fees. When Clark.com called Walmart stores in January 2026, the exam cost $80 in Denver, $95 in Lexington and $120 in Atlanta. The middle price was $95.

What changes your price
- The doctor. Clark.com notes that most Walmart exams are done by self-employed doctors who lease space next to the vision center. Each one sets their own fee.
- Your city. The three stores checked ranged from $80 to $120, a $40 gap for the same basic exam.
- Contact lenses. Clark.com says a contact lens fitting or renewal costs extra.
- Extra tests. Ask if dilation or retinal imaging is in the price. All About Vision puts separate dilation at about $20 or $25.
Glasses at Walmart are priced by Walmart
The exam fee is set by the doctor, but glasses are sold by Walmart itself. In August 2026 Clark.com found frames online from $10, single vision lenses from $30, bifocals from $60 and progressive lenses from $100. Lens add-ons like anti-glare started at $55.
You do not have to buy glasses where you had the exam. Your prescription is yours, and you can take it to any store or website.

Every number on this page comes from a survey with a stated method or from prices collected store by store. All About Vision surveyed 100 eye care practices, spread evenly across six US regions, big and small cities, and three types of practice. Clark.com phoned named stores and printed each price it was given. We use the median when a source lets us work one out. The median is the middle price: half of the prices are lower and half are higher. The All About Vision survey only gives averages, so we label those as averages. We left out sites that give a price with no method, and numbers we could not find on the source's own page. We do not add our own guesses, and this page has no calculator because no source says how each choice moves the price. All numbers were checked on September 26, 2026.
