What moves the price

What is included

A Servpro water job has four parts. Inspection and moisture mapping, which is free during an active loss. Extraction, pulling standing water out at $0.50 to $1.50 a square foot. Drying, with dehumidifiers and air movers left in place for two to five days at $75 to $250 a unit a day. Demolition and antimicrobial treatment of anything that stayed wet. Rebuild is quoted separately.

The price by source. Servpro's own resource page, dated September 14, 2026: national average $3,865, most repairs $450 to $16,000, $3 to $7.50 a square foot, minor $3.50, moderate $5.25, severe $7.50, with labor built into the rate. One inch of clean water in a basement $500 to $1,500. Two feet of sewage $2,800 and up. A bathroom cleanup up to $3,000. Mold adds $1,200 to $3,800. HearthDry, reviewed July 2026 and updated September 14, 2026: most Servpro water jobs $3,000 to $8,000, minor $1,500 to $4,000, moderate $4,000 to $9,000, severe $8,000 to $20,000 and up, mold $10 to $25 a square foot, sewage $2,000 to $10,000, flooded basement $2,500 to $10,000 and up, labor $55 to $120 an hour. RestoreNearMe, August 4, 2026: the same $3.50 to $7.50 a square foot, dehumidifiers $75 to $250 a day, sewage $3,000 to $12,000, and a note that independent local companies are often 10% to 25% lower.

How Servpro bills. Every franchise writes the estimate in Xactimate, which is the pricing software most insurers use. That is why Servpro and your insurer rarely argue about the line items. You pay the deductible. Servpro bills the insurer for the rest, up to your policy limit.

Does insurance pay for this? Usually yes for sudden water, such as a burst pipe, a failed water heater or a washer hose. Usually no for water from outside, such as a flood or storm surge, which needs a separate flood policy from the NFIP with a 30 day waiting period. Usually no for sewer backup unless you have the water backup endorsement, which costs about $50 to $250 a year. Never for slow leaks you ignored. Call your insurer before Servpro starts, and ask Servpro to send the estimate to the adjuster.

Servpro against ServiceMaster and PuroClean. HearthDry's ServiceMaster guide, July 25, 2026, puts ServiceMaster at $1,500 to $8,500 for most homes, minor $1,500 to $4,500, moderate $4,500 to $9,000, sewage $2,000 to $10,000, with the same $0.50 to $1.50 extraction and $75 to $250 equipment rates. In other words, the big three price the same way and land in the same band. The real difference is which franchise answers the phone fastest and which one your insurer already works with.

What a Servpro bill looks like. A moderate job, gray water in a kitchen and the room below. Extraction of 300 square feet at $1 a square foot, $300. Six air movers and two dehumidifiers for four days, about $2,000. Removing 200 square feet of wet drywall and baseboard, $500. Antimicrobial treatment, $150. Disposal, $150. Total cleanup and drying about $3,100. Rebuild of the drywall, paint and flooring is a second quote, often $2,000 to $5,000. That is how a $3,000 cleanup becomes an $8,000 claim.

The 24 hour rule. Servpro's own guidance is that mold can start within 24 to 48 hours. That is why the emergency line is answered around the clock and why the inspection is free during an active loss. The cost of a job is set mostly by how much got wet and how long it stayed wet. Fast calls are cheap calls.

Franchise, not one company. Servpro has about 2,000 locally owned franchises. The brand sets the method and the software. The owner sets the crew and, within limits, the price. Two Servpro trucks in the same city can be two different businesses. If the first one quotes high, it is fine to call the second.

Common questions.

How much does Servpro charge per square foot? $3.50 for clean water, $5.25 for gray water and $7.50 for black water in 2026, with labor included, per Servpro's own page.

Does Servpro charge for an estimate? Not during an active water loss. A standalone mold inspection with no active leak may be billed.

Does Servpro bill insurance directly? Yes. You pay the deductible and Servpro bills the insurer, up to your policy limit.

Is Servpro more expensive than a local company? Often 10% to 25% more for the same work, per RestoreNearMe and HearthDry. The trade is speed, equipment and insurer familiarity.

How much does Servpro charge for mold? $10 to $25 a square foot, or $1,200 to $3,800 added to a water job on Servpro's own figures.

Why this costs more in 2026

Restoration crews bill labor at $55 to $120 an hour and more in big cities, and the dehumidifiers, air movers and antimicrobial chemicals they use are made from oil and shipped by diesel truck. Both went up after the oil shock that began with the Iran war in February 2026. That is why a 2026 drying bill runs higher per day than the 2024 figures still quoted on older sites.
