What pushes the price up
| What | Why it matters |

| Coaching and support | WeightWatchers lists $74 a month on a 12 month plan and $84 a month on a 6 month plan, both after a $25 first month. |

What the price includes
App based plans usually cover meal plans, tracking tools, and coaching or group support. Mayo Clinic Diet lists meal plans, coaching, and tracking in all its plans. WeightWatchers says the cost of GLP-1 medicine is not included in its listed price. Medicine programs may include a doctor visit, supplies, and shipping. Ask what is billed apart. It does not include tax or extras the provider adds on the day.
Does insurance cover it
Most app and coaching plans, such as WeightWatchers or Mayo Clinic Diet, are not covered by insurance. You pay the listed price. Some plans cover weight loss medicine or visits with a doctor, but rules differ. WeightWatchers says the cost of GLP-1 medicine is not included in its price. Call your plan and ask if weight loss care is a covered benefit. A health savings account may help if your doctor writes a note.
When a doctor orders it
A doctor may suggest a weight loss program if your weight puts your health at risk. This can include type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, or a high body mass index. A doctor can check for other causes and tell you if a diet plan, coaching, or medicine fits you best. Ask your doctor before you start any medicine.
How to judge your quote
- Is the monthly price a first month offer, or the price after it?
- Is medicine, a doctor visit, and shipping in the price, or billed apart?
- What is the total cost over the full length of the plan?
- Can I cancel, and what do I owe if I leave early?
- Compare the total with the range above: $10 to $349 per month for most people in 2026.
Ways to pay less
- Pay for a longer plan up front. Mayo Clinic Diet lists $10 a month for 12 months paid at once, against $49.99 on a monthly plan.
- Watch the first month offer. WeightWatchers lists $25 for the first month, then $74 a month on its 12 month plan.
- Ask if the medicine cost is in the price. WeightWatchers says GLP-1 medicine is not included in its listed price, so total cost can be much higher.
- Compare month to month and prepaid rates. TrimRx lists Henry Meds at about $297 month to month and about $197 with a 12 month prepay.
- Start with a low cost app plan before a medicine program. You can test if coaching and tracking work for you at a lower price.
