Guides differ, and most are written by pool dealers. Angi reports a much lower average, $33,270, with a range of $5,000 to $68,000, so treat all of them as starting points. What changes your price
- Pool size. HomeGuide says most inground fiberglass pools are 300 to 400 square feet, at $150 to $250 a square foot.
- Site and access. Swimply says tight yards or tricky access make delivery hard, and large shells often need a crane.
- What is included. Thursday Pools says delivery distance, excavation, electrical work, fencing, decking and permits all change the total.
- Your area. Swimply says big metros pay more. NewHousePool says Texas, Arizona and Florida have the lowest totals.
- Season. Swimply says builders in busy cities raise prices in spring and summer, and waiting for the off season may save money.
- Extras. Decks, covers, lighting and automation add to the bill.
What the price covers
River Pools and Spas says a basic installation usually includes the shell, delivery, excavation, pump and filter, building permits, first fill water, backfill and cleaning gear. It does not usually include electrical work, the patio or optional features, so confirm that with your installer.
Angi splits the cost this way: shells $4,500 to $30,000, pump and filtration $1,200 to $4,500, gravel backfill $1 to $3 a square foot, and labor about $10,000 to $20,000. Angi says many companies quote a five person crew for 160 labor hours.
NewHousePool says a fiberglass shell can last 30 to 50 years, while concrete needs resurfacing every 10 to 15 years.
