The upkeep is the real cost
CK Studio Salon says most salons list starting prices that leave out the hair, the install or the move up visits. It puts a first install at about $500 to $2,500, and says that with move ups every 6 to 10 weeks, the first year runs about $1,500 to $4,500. Move ups cost about $100 to $400, and good hair can be reused for two to four rounds, which lowers the cost later on.
Perfect Locks puts tape ins at about $300 to $900 including the hair and the install, with move ups at about $75 to $200 every 4 to 8 weeks as your own hair grows. It puts clip ins from about $150 and keratin fusion up to about $1,500.
The Glam House says a full head of salon extensions like tape ins or sew ins usually costs $600 to $1,500, using 150 to 200 grams of human hair. CostInsightHub says sew ins need to be braided and sewn again every two to three months, at about $200 to $500 each time.
