Car wrap cost by region

Lower cost states$2,000 to $4,800. Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia and most rural areas.
Average cost states$2,500 to $6,000. Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and most mid size cities.
Higher cost states$3,200 to $7,800. California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington, plus big metros such as Chicago, Denver and Washington DC.

These rows are our estimate. We took the typical national range and adjusted it for local labor costs, which run about 20 percent lower in the cheapest states and about 30 percent higher in the dearest ones. Wrap shops in big metro areas, such as the San Francisco Bay Area, sit at the top of these ranges.

Finish prices, and when a wrap beats paint

A 2026 price guide from a Bay Area shop lists full color change wraps by finish: gloss solid colors $3,000 to $5,500, matte or satin $3,500 to $6,000, metallic $4,000 to $6,500, color shift $5,500 to $8,000, and chrome $6,000 to $10,000 or more. The same shop warns that quotes far below these usually mean cheaper calendered vinyl or less prep.

A wrap makes sense when the paint underneath is in good shape and you want a new look you can remove later. It also protects the paint under it. It is the wrong choice over peeling, rusted or dented paint, because vinyl shows every flaw. For that, see our car paint job cost page.

Partial wraps

A roof, hood or mirrors in a contrast color costs far less than a full wrap and is a popular way to change the look for a few hundred dollars to about a thousand.

Why this costs more in 2026

Vinyl film is a petroleum product and it ships in rolls by truck, and a full wrap takes several days of labor.

The short version is oil. Diesel passed $6 a gallon on the AAA national average for the first time on September 11, 2026. A year earlier it was about $3.70 (CBS 8 reporting AAA). That lands in trip charges, deliveries and anything made from petroleum. Quotes are being held open for shorter periods this year, so ask for the expiry date in writing.
