A new factory pack costs most and carries the longest warranty. A refurbished pack uses tested cells and costs far less. ThePricer notes that the 12 volt battery is a different part and a much cheaper job, so make sure the diagnosis is the high voltage pack before you pay for it.
Green Bean Battery, a hybrid battery specialist, puts dealer Prius replacements at $3,500 to over $5,000 in 2026 with about a 12 month warranty, against $1,349 to $1,949 for its own installed packs. CARspec, a Minnesota shop, lists fixed prices of $2,998 for a new Toyota pack in a 2004 to 2009 Prius and $2,280 for a rebuilt one, and it does not recommend single module replacements.

Why this costs more in 2026
Hybrid packs contain nickel or lithium cells whose prices move with metals markets.
The short version is oil. Diesel passed $6 a gallon on the AAA national average for the first time on September 11, 2026. A year earlier it was about $3.70 (CBS 8 reporting AAA). That lands in trip charges, deliveries and anything made from petroleum. Quotes are being held open for shorter periods this year, so ask for the expiry date in writing.
