If you are outside the warranty, do not assume the whole pack is gone. Recharged notes that a growing number of Tesla specialist shops fix single modules, coolant leaks, contactors and wiring for a few thousand dollars. Get a diagnosis from an independent high voltage shop before you accept a full pack quote.
Buying a used Tesla
Ask for a battery health report and check the remaining warranty. A pack with most of its range and years of coverage left is worth paying more for.

Why this costs more in 2026
Battery cell prices have fallen, but installed prices stay high because of labor, freight on a pack of about 1,000 pounds, and warranty.
Fuel is the common thread. AAA's national average for diesel passed $6 a gallon for the first time on September 11, 2026, up from about $3.70 a year earlier (CBS 8 reporting AAA). Every truck roll and every delivery carries that. Some suppliers added freight surcharges this year. Ask how long your quote is good for.
