- Oil type. Full synthetic costs more than conventional oil.
- Engine size. Bigger engines take 5 to 7 quarts, and small ones take 4 to 5.
- Your city. A RAV4 owner in a high cost metro reported $186 for an oil change and tire rotation, per Daily Car Tips.
- Dealer or shop. Some dealers price oil changes low to bring you in.
- Extras. Adding a tire rotation or inspections raises the bill.

Most Toyotas take 0W-20 full synthetic oil, says Oil Change San Carlos. It adds that the newer Camry, Corolla and RAV4 call for 0W-16, so check your cap or your manual before you let anyone pour in oil.
New Toyotas get free maintenance, but the length depends on the model year. ToyotaAutoDealer says ToyotaCare covers scheduled maintenance, including oil and filter changes, for 2 years or 25,000 miles. Oil Change San Carlos says that for 2027 models it was trimmed to 1 year or 10,000 miles. Check your own paperwork.
Oil Change San Carlos says dealers often price oil changes low on purpose, to bring you into the service drive, where inspections lead to upsells. On a RAV4 forum, one owner reported a $125 dealer price for a 5 quart change in California in 2023, and said a nearby Jiffy Lube charged $110 for full synthetic.
