Peterson Family Dentistry says a custom night guard from a general dentist usually costs $300 to $800, and a special TMJ splint can reach $1,500 or more. It says dental insurance often pays about half of a night guard when grinding is written into your records. Physical therapy costs about $75 to $120 a visit without insurance, or about $20 to $60 with in network medical cover. Botox for jaw clenching runs $400 to $1,200 a session, uses about 30 to 60 units, and must be repeated every 3 to 6 months.
ScienceInsights says most therapy plans run one to two visits a week for four to eight weeks, about $300 to $2,000 in all. It puts a first exam at $100 to $400 and a panoramic X ray at $100 to $250. Dental Services Finder puts mild to moderate cases at about $500 to $3,000, cases with therapy and custom devices at $2,000 to $7,000, and surgery cases at more than $10,000.
Park Smiles NYC says Manhattan practices charge $500 to $2,000 for custom splints, $100 to $300 per therapy visit and $400 to $1,500 for Botox. It says treatment without surgery helps about 80 percent of patients.
