What changes your price
- Generation. Dachshund Guides says F1 runs $1,500 to $2,500 and F1B runs $2,500 to $3,500.
- Size. Dachshund Guides says mini and micro sizes cost $500 to $1,000 more than standard.
- Color and lineage. Rare colors and champion lines can pass $6,000, says Puppy Simply.
- Health testing. Wooffy says a $800 puppy almost always traces to skipped hip, heart and eye checks on the parents.
- Your area. Love of Puppies says urban areas charge more than rural ones. Fox Creek Farm says areas with fewer responsible breeders see higher prices.
- Waitlists. Many breeders ask a $200 to $500 deposit to hold a spot.
Generation, size and coat
Wooffy says F1 puppies are a cross of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle and are often priced a bit lower, but coat and shedding are a genetic coin flip. F1B puppies are bred back to a Poodle, are the most reliably low shedding, and cost more. If allergies are the reason you want a Goldendoodle, Wooffy says to budget for F1B.
Smaller dogs cost more. Furrylicious puts a petite mini at about $3,200 and a micro mini at about $3,800. Dogster adds that the American Kennel Club does not recognize the Mini Goldendoodle, so it can be hard to find a certified breeder, and it says to research carefully.
Dachshund Guides says a listing under $1,000 with no waitlist is a red flag for puppy mills.
