Why ADP Payroll has no price list
ADP sells payroll and HR software and services. Small shops use RUN. Mid-size firms use Workforce Now. It does not post a full price list, so every deal is quoted by a sales rep.
Workforce Now setup can run $2,000 to $8,000. Vantage setup can run $10,000 to $50,000 or more. Add-ons often add $1 to $10 per employee per month.
Why you have to ask
Like most software sold by a sales team, ADP Payroll keeps its pricing off the website. Every quote is custom, and the gap between a small deal and a large one is wide. We built the ranges here from reported deals so you have a number before the first call.
Because the bill is per employee, per month, the quote grows with every seat you add. Count the seats you will really use before the call.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for multi-year pricing and compare it to one year.
- Get quotes from other payroll firms and share them.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Ask which add-ons can be dropped.
- Ask for a cap on yearly price rises.
- Ask about waiving setup fees.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
