What changes your price
- Lift height. Taller lifts need more parts and more hours.
- Type of lift. A leveling kit or body lift costs far less than a suspension lift.
- Your truck. Trucks with independent front suspension can need more parts than solid axle trucks.
- Wheels and tires. Bigger tires are often the most expensive part of the whole build.
- Extra parts. Shocks, control arms and steering parts add cost on taller lifts.
- Alignment. You need one after the lift.
Leveling kit, body lift or suspension lift
A leveling kit raises only the front of the truck so it sits flat. LR Wheels N Lifts puts the parts at $50 to $500 and the install at $200 to $500, done in about 2 to 4 hours. J.D. Power says a shop usually charges $300 to $500 to install a mild leveling or lift kit.
A body lift uses spacer blocks to raise the body off the frame. It gives room for bigger tires but does not change how the suspension works. A suspension lift swaps or changes the suspension parts and raises the whole truck, often 3 to 6 inches or more.
Starwood Custom Vehicles says a mild setup installed by a pro is about $1,000 to $3,000, and a 4 inch suspension lift is about $2,000 to $5,000, before wheel and tire packages. - Ask what happens to your warranty.

Ways to pay less
- If you only want the truck to sit flat, a leveling kit may be all you need.
- Keep your tires if they fit. Tires can cost more than the lift.
- Get the alignment done at the same shop, the same day.
- Only install it yourself if you have done this before. RealTruck says taller kits are best left to a pro.
- Get 2 or 3 quotes with the same kit, so you compare the same job.
