How we calculate this
Prices are for the United States in 2026 from published cost guides, checked September 2026. This is an estimate, not a quote.
What Adobe AEM costs
| Entry licence | From about $30,000 a year, reported. |
|---|---|

What pushes a quote up
| Modules | Sites, Assets and Forms are each priced on their own. |
|---|---|
| Traffic | Page views and content requests drive the Sites price. |
| Storage | Large image and video libraries cost more in Assets. |
| Setup | Complex, multi site builds can cost millions. |
| Bundles | Buying several Adobe products together can lower unit prices. |
AEM or a lighter tool
AEM is built for large companies with many sites, brands and a big library of images and video. Smaller companies often scale back or overspend. If you run one or two sites, a lighter content system may do the same job for a fraction of the cost.
If you do need it, compare the cloud service with running it yourself. The cloud version costs more each year but removes hardware and upgrade work.
Why the price is hidden
Software sold this way is priced by the sales team, not by a price list. The rep learns your size, your budget and how badly you need it, then builds a quote. Two companies the same size often pay different amounts for the same product. That is why the numbers on this page come from buyers and analysts, not from the vendor.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for Sites, Assets and Forms priced on their own lines.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Buy at Adobe's fiscal period end, when buyers report better prices.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
AEM is often bought together with other Adobe products, such as Analytics or Target. Bundling can lower the unit price, but it can also make it harder to see what AEM alone costs. Ask for each product on its own line.
Plan for ongoing costs. Beyond the licence, companies pay for hosting, upgrades, integrations and support every year. Build those into the budget from day one.
A last tip: get a rival quote. Sitecore is the usual comparison, and it is reported at about $20,000 to $50,000 a year less for similar setups.)();
