XM or XP
Sitecore sells a content only product, XM, and a full platform, XP, which adds personalization and marketing automation. XM is reported at about 30 to 50 percent less than XP. Many companies buy XP and never switch on the marketing tools.
Sitecore is also moving customers to its cloud platform, now called SitecoreAI, with XM Cloud at its core. If you are on an older XP version, ask what staying costs compared with moving.
Why the price is hidden
Software sold this way is priced by the sales team, not by a price list. The rep learns your size, your budget and how badly you need it, then builds a quote. Two companies the same size often pay different amounts for the same product. That is why the numbers on this page come from buyers and analysts, not from the vendor.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for XM and XP quotes side by side, for the same traffic and sites.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Negotiate renewals early. Buyers who plan ahead report 20 to 40 percent better renewal terms.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
Sitecore suits large companies running many websites across brands, countries and languages. A company with one or two simple sites usually does not need it.
Check your version. From June 1, 2026, security updates and incident support became paid add ons for older XP versions in extended support, including 10.2 and 10.3. Staying on an old version now has a real yearly cost.
A last tip: pick the partner carefully. Setup and support often cost as much as the licence, so a clear fixed scope from your partner matters as much as the Sitecore price.)();
About $40,000 to $200,000 a year, with a median near $61,000. About $90,000 to $140,000 for a standard build, and more for several sites. XM is content only. XP adds personalization and marketing tools, and costs more. No. Every number here comes from buyer data.Common questions
