Anaplan costs $30,000 to $200,000 a year
Anaplan is planning software that finance teams use for budgets and forecasts. It does not publish prices. Entry deals start around $30,000 to $50,000 a year for about 10 to 15 users. The median buyer pays about $102,000 a year, and the average customer about $200,000. Setup with outside consultants often costs $50,000 to $250,000 on top.

What pushes a quote up
| Users | More planners in the tool raise the price. |
|---|---|
| Storage | Data and model size carry their own charges. |
| Use cases | Each added planning area adds cost. |
| Setup | Model building needs outside consultants. |
| Yearly rise | About 10 percent a year by default. |
The 10 percent yearly rise
Anaplan contracts are reported to default to a 10 percent rise every year, even on three year deals. On a $100,000 contract that is $121,000 by year three. Buyers are advised to ask for a price lock for the whole term, or a cap of 3 percent or inflation, whichever is lower.
Also watch for seats you should not pay for. Anaplan charges for outside auditor and external user seats. Buyers ask for 2 to 5 free auditor seats as part of the deal, since those users are needed for compliance, not planning.
Why the price is hidden
Software sold this way is priced by the sales team, not by a price list. The rep learns your size, your budget and how badly you need it, then builds a quote. Two companies the same size often pay different amounts for the same product. That is why the numbers on this page come from buyers and analysts, not from the vendor.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Ask for the yearly rise in writing, and push for a cap of 3 percent.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Ask for free auditor seats in the contract.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
Anaplan is powerful but complex. Many companies need outside consultants to build and maintain their models, and some keep a consultant on retainer after go live. Budget for that ongoing help, not just the first setup.
Start with one planning area, such as the company budget, before adding workforce or sales planning. Each new area adds users, storage and setup work.
Lastly, use setup cost as leverage. Setup often runs $50,000 to $200,000 or more, and buyers report getting 7 to 10 percent off the licence in return.
A final tip: time your purchase. Buyers report the best discounts at quarter ends in March, June, September and December, when sales teams chase targets. Multi year deals are reported at 15 to 27 percent off list for large contracts.
