SailPoint costs about $75,000 to $500,000 a year
SailPoint controls who can access which company systems, and proves it to auditors. It does not publish prices. CheckThat reports small rollouts starting near $75,000 a year and mid-sized companies paying $100,000 to $500,000 or more. VendorBenchmark puts list prices at $60 to $90 per identity a year, and $30 to $55 after typical discounts.

How we calculate this
Prices are for the United States in 2026 from published cost guides, checked September 2026. This is an estimate, not a quote.
What SailPoint buyers pay
| Small rollout | About $75,000 a year. |
|---|---|
| Mid-sized company | About $100,000 to $500,000 or more a year. |
| List price per identity | About $60 to $90 a year. |
| After discounts | About $30 to $55 per identity a year. |
| Setup | About 30 to 60 percent of first year cost. |
What pushes a quote up
| Identities | Every staff member, contractor and service account counted. |
|---|---|
| Suite | Higher tiers add AI risk scoring and machine identities. |
| Add ons | Extra modules, like cloud access checks, are priced on top. |
| Platform | Identity Security Cloud is the cloud version. IdentityIQ is the older one. |
| Term | Multi year deals are reported to cut 15 to 30 percent per identity. |
The identity count grows after you sign
SailPoint charges per managed identity. VendorBenchmark says first contracts usually count only employees, then grow to include contractors, temp staff, service accounts and machine identities. That can raise the count 30 to 80 percent over the contract.
Plan for that growth up front. Ask for tiered prices that drop as your count rises, and agree now on what counts as an identity. Setup is the other big cost: CheckThat puts it at 30 to 60 percent of the first year. See our CyberArk page for privileged access, which many teams buy alongside.
Why the price is hidden
Software sold this way is priced by the sales team, not by a price list. The rep learns your size, your budget and how badly you need it, then builds a quote. Two companies the same size often pay different amounts for the same product. That is why the numbers on this page come from buyers and analysts, not from the vendor.
How to judge the quote in your hand
- Get the definition of an identity in writing, including contractors and service accounts.
- Ask for the all in number: licence, setup, training and support for year one.
- Ask what renewal looks like in year two and three, in writing.
- Get a second quote from a rival and say so on the call.
- Buy at quarter end, when reps chase targets.
- Cut seats and modules you will not use in the first 90 days.
Ways to pay less
- Lock in tiered pricing so each new identity costs less as your count grows.
- Pay yearly if the discount is real, not just a rounding of the monthly price.
- Start on the lowest tier and upgrade when you hit a wall.
- Ask for the setup fee to be waived or split over the year.
- Check the free trial or demo before you sign anything.
Before you decide
SailPoint suits large companies with many systems and strict audit rules. VendorBenchmark calls it the market leader in identity governance.
Companies already deep in Microsoft may get enough from Entra ID. SailPoint earns its price when access rules are complex and audits are frequent.
A last tip: negotiate setup alongside the license, since it can be nearly half the first year.)();
Small rollouts start near $75,000 a year. Mid-sized companies pay $100,000 to $500,000 or more. No. Every deal is quoted. Per managed identity, by suite, plus add ons and setup. TrustRadius lists no free version or trial.Common questions
